Poll: If you could change your gender?

If you could change your gender how long would you change it for? what would you do? It's only a one time experience, so if you decide to change back to your original gender, you can't go back again.Poll: If you could change your gender?
I would definitely change. I would change it forever. Women just have it too hard in my opinion. I would much rather be a man.Poll: If you could change your gender?
Once just to experience.

I'd probably sit back and observer.

I don't think I'd wanna stay a girl, but who knows XP

Guys are girls have a lot in common yet we are so different.

I just wonder what the world looks like through their eyes.

Maybe its no different, than it is to us.
I would change it for a week. I've thought about this before. Like..how do guys see the world.

Only for a week though because I would probably miss being me. You know, like you don't know what you've got till it's gone or whatever they say, right?

I would go to school and sit at the back of the classroom. I would be the bad boy.

But I'd be scared that I'd fall in love with a girl then not want to change back..or do we have control of our minds?

I cant find how to change my gender on my yahoo! avatar!?

Please can someone help me find out how to change the gender to female on yahoo! avatars and how do i get on it because wen i go on it i go on my profile and go on change details and choose mhy avatar but it just comes up with a boy. plz help scaz__xI cant find how to change my gender on my yahoo! avatar!?

You reckon it'll be real easy telling my mum i want a gender change?

1. my mum used to dress as a bloke when she was young :o

2. I have two gay cousins in the philippines, one who is always asking my mum to send him womens panties lol and she doesn't seem to care.

3. my mum also had a granny who dressed as a bloke

The only problem is my sis will most likely freak out, and i don't know how my dad will react. He probably won't be that surprised since i dressed as a bloke since i was young up until i was about 13.You reckon it'll be real easy telling my mum i want a gender change?
Whoa, I actually told my mom this today. xD But that's not the point.

Anywho, only you know how your mom is gonna take it. You've just gotta tell her, explain yourself, and let her ask questions. Keep in mind that cross dressing and gender changes are two totally different things. She might be okay with one but not the other. You reckon it'll be real easy telling my mum i want a gender change?
Well if you tell you mom she can help you break it to your sis n dad. So, I would support going about it that way.
Things are looking good! =]

I say go ahead and tell your parents. They sound rather open-minded (much more than most people, at least).
Dressing it and being it are very different. I do hope that your family is as open minded as you seem to think and will support you in this though.

Good luck!
You can never predict how these things will turn out. Hope for the best, be ready for the worst and you'll probably come out somewhere in between.

Why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?

why do they change their gender??

why people do that and why they want to do that. don't they feel nice about themselves? Also, how does it affect their friends and loved ones? Why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?
They feel like they were born in the wrong body. They are miserable their entire unless they have the surgery but then there is family and society to deal with. Its real, real tough. Why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?
they hate themselves
I think it's a very deep issue. A lot of times these people feel they weren't born into the right body. They FEEL like a woman, and they're a man, or vice versa. They feel they are living a lie in the body they are in and are very rarely happy with themselves. I was just talking about this to a co-worker of mine and he said that people like that ';don't deserve rights';. I can't believe some people are so closed minded. I might not agree with it but everyone deserves human rights.
They spend their entire life feeling like they are living a lie; that they should be a man/woman instead of how they were born. More often than not, they begin to feel this way at an extremely young age. It is extremely difficult on loved ones, especially the parents who often feel like ';they did something wrong'; which is not the case at all. Some people are fortunate enough to have a good support system and people who understand and love them enough to help them through the process. Others are not so lucky.
They feel like their personalities and their thinking don't fit their bodies

I think guys/women do that because they are either being mistreated by a man or they just think boys get more fair treatment..
Gender is the mental impression a person has of their sex.

Sex is the physical attributes which determine their classification as male or female, and generally also determines their gender.

For reasons beyond logic, feminists continually speak about 'gender' when they should be discussing 'sex'.

They wish to pretend that sex (male female) has no relevence to a persons abilities - which in many cases may well be true.

Nonetheless, it causes confusion for many people as they assume 'gender = sex' when it doesn't... as demonstrated by your question.

I would say that people who want to change thier sex is because they 'feel' the opposite gender to their sex. Thus, a man may feel mentally more of a woman trapped in the body of a man - so the sex is male, but the gender is female. Similarly, a woman may be physically a woman but feels she is a man trapped inside a woman's body. Female sex with the gender of a male.

Why change? For some, it is simply that the urge to be opposite to their sex ( in this case, their gender ) is what they truly wnat to be.

I recall an instance where a botched operation left a baby boy having to have his male genitals removed and brought up as a girl.

As his gender was male - and so was his sex originally - he grew up feeling male trapped in a woman's body.

Despite psychologists and feminist hailing this boy as 'proof' that men %26amp; women (gender) were interchangable - she committed suicide at a young age, having expressed repeatedly she wanted to be a man.

Her parents dressed her dresses and skirts, made him play with dolls and babies, and all the stuff typically seen in girl behaviours.

It seems gender and sex actually quite different from one another - again - only feminists would try and pretend that male %26amp; female brains are identical.
It is medically defined as Gender Identity Disorder (GID). People with this disorder feel they were born in the wrong body %26amp; want their sex(based on physical %26amp; genetic characteristics) to match their gender(which is much, much, more complicated).

There is some controversy in the transgender community over the label GID. Some say that the word ';disorder'; implies that there is something wrong with them, which is untrue. On the other hand,if it is not classified as a disorder, sex change surgery will be considered an elective surgery by insurance companies, %26amp; thus harder to pay for.

  • How Can You Change What Gender You Are Attracted To...?

I am attracted to guys, but it kind of makes me depressed. How Can You Change What Gender You Are Attracted To...?
You can't change who you are attracted to you can only pretend to like someone that you are not attracted too. It's best just to be true to your self. How Can You Change What Gender You Are Attracted To...?
    Ur welcome and thanks! :-)

You can't change it. You are what you are. Period.
    See a doctor
you can't. a homo is a homo, a hetero is a hetero. why does that make you sad?? do you think being a homo is wrong??
aaaaaaw hun you cant change what gender your attracted too. Love who you are and those who know and love you will love you no matter what. Who cares what everyone else thinks. Smile, hold your head up and except who you are.
You can't help it if you like the same gender. I'm bi. I just am. If it makes you depressed, it's probably because other people are making you feel that way. Accept who you are. Be proud of it.
Why are you depressed about? =( You shouldn't be depressed about how you feel, you can't help it. It's better to embrace it, be happy wth yourself! =)

and p.s. no, you can't change who you're attracted to.
What is it that makes you feel depressed? Are you even interested in girls? I think it's hard to change who you're attracted to. I'd suggest seeing a counselor to just talk about this stuff with. He/she may be able to help you deal with what you are going through.
you cant change that sorry to say but it sounds to me like you have just not meet the right type of guys try changing the clubs you go to or where ever it is you met these guys and you never know i believe there is someone for everyone keep your chin up
Simple. You choose! God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. Trust Him. It's not easy in todays world, but you can :)
Awwww Honey no dont be depressed, you cant change what feelings you have, mabay talk to someone get it all off ya chest! *hug*
if you are naturally attracted then you can't help the way you feel, I guess you feel depressed because of society and the way you may be made to feel if you were gay. I think you could find a girl and get close to her, but you may be lying to her and yourself and all will end in tears, best take a long hard look at yourself, take a deep breath and jump in, then start swimming friend, you will survive and be a happier person in the end.!!!
Hey, what is wrong with being attracted to another guy?

Are you not at all attracted to girls?

If you need someone to talk to you can always contact me at NotToExpressive@aol.com
I'm a guy and at times being attracted to guys makes me depressed....LOL

    Buddy, get some support!

Make gay friends to talk about your feelings.

You can have a great life as a gay man. If you are surrounded by religious folk with little resources then talk to God. He does not dissappoint. God loves you, Gay or straight. Don't believe what you are told. You count in this world. It will take time for others to understand...or not. You must strenthen yourself not to fight but to deflect other beliefs.

Many will tell you to pray, or trust Jesus....etc.

I did that.....many years later I was still attracted to men.
    Why Would You Want To?

    And Whats With The Capitals?
Sweetie, depression can lead to mental illness and worse, you could stop functioning normally like anyone else.Talk to someone you can trust or if not, make an appointment with the nearest gp.Remember that in this life, nothing is perfect so don't panic and don't start planning what you must do or not to do.In every cloud there is a silver lining.People like us who are attracted to the same gender/gays/whatever survive best when we involve ourselves in arts eg.poetry, painting, gardening etc.but that is just a generalisation anyway.Make your life colourful and as rich as it can be.remember there are millions out there who are struggling with their lives, not just us.I'm just not sure, judging by your avatar,if you are plain camp or a bi-guy(or are you something else). But if you really want a boyfriend and not just a friend, then you have to start grooming yourself-bodywise,facewise,personality and go and visit the gay clubs in London which is the best place for you to experiment. Are you still at university coz if you are surely there is an LGBT society?Honey, a rose is a rose and by any o ther name smells just as sweet. If you improvise or make some changes then peopleeven guys would start noticing you this is the new millenium.the opportunity for self-expression.just don't go overboard and flirt with a guy publicly! But you still have the rights to express what you feel and what's on your mind.
Other than lying to yourself (which incidentally won't actually work), nothing.

If you're depressed seek medical help; the depression may not just be because you're gay.

I just need to know how to change my gender to female, on yoville I am a female, I don't like being a male .?

you cant, but you can create a new account, and send all your stuff to the new account by gift giving

*idk who marked me down but this is about YOVILLE not real life..yoville is a game.. :) hello

Just bc she has it in the gay section doesn't mean she is gay in real life, probably.. when she wrote the question and sent it to be processed..yahoo suggested ';lesbian, gay, bi, trans'; as the categoryI just need to know how to change my gender to female, on yoville I am a female, I don't like being a male .?
Well its a long, and usually hard, process.

Aside of coming out, and all of the hell that will follow, you will need to see a gender therapist. The gender therapist will assist you on transitioning (if of course transitioning is right for you). You will probably be prescribed hormones, or hormone blockers depending on your age, as they see fit.

Its a process and don't rush into anything or you will mess up dramatically.

Some people who aren't transsexual mess up and get SRS, then years later blame other people and take it out on real transsexuals.

    http://www.drbecky.com/therapists.html

    http://www.tsroadmap.com/mental/therapy.

And if you are under 18 (which you seem to be) you most likely won't get hormones. Its not really common for people under 16 to get hormones, and depending on your environment and the acceptance of your family, you may not get hormones until 18. But you can get hormone blockers, which will basically stop your puberty.I just need to know how to change my gender to female, on yoville I am a female, I don't like being a male .?
Go to gender therapy first....? That's where I need to be...but I'm not even out to my parents yet as transgendered...so... yeah.
oh darling if you are a male and you love males then you can spend a very good life as a gay bottom. i am sure many guys will Love you so much in masculine body. I am also gay and i am bottom. sometimes i act like a girl with my boyfriend but i dont change myself. But still.... if you want a change then you need to go for 1 or more plastic surgery and may be you need hormones. But you may not get 100 % results even after all this. I Would say you must stay in dressing , living , acting like a man but loving men as a bottom gay!

Trust me, it's more fun to be a gay instead of a transgender. you'll get more Guys around you if you are living like a man.

i hope my answer will help you.

    have a nice day, cheers!
Take hormones and have a sex change
    you're transsexual! ewwwwwwwwww!

What if you had to change your race or change your gender? Which would you change? Why?

Race and gender plays a part in how we see ourselves and how others see us. Sometimes I find myself celebrating very different aspects of my ';IDENTITY';. I am not entirely defined by my race or gender, but ';changing';one would redefine ';me';.What if you had to change your race or change your gender? Which would you change? Why?
Although I love being a woman, I think there are aspects of being male that might be interesting. I think if I had to choose, though, I would change my race. People might not like it, but I think it would be an eye-opening experience that might help others understand discrimination.....What if you had to change your race or change your gender? Which would you change? Why?
    none,I'm proud of me.
Some very insightful comments you made there, and you are correct in you assertions.

To answer your question, I would not change a thing. I love being female and I like who I am (a mixture of many things, with a multi-national identity).
I would like to be a bird. Like a duck or an owl, maybe an eagle.
Nothing, I believe I am the best thing since sliced bread. Love for one's self is vital to your existence and happiness. If everyone could do that then we could all love and respect each other.
I wouldn't change either. Although blacks and females seem to have a harder time in life, than whites and males. I would'nt want to anything different than what I am right now.

    I love being me.
    NEVER!!! I HAVE NO REASON!!!
    Race.

Im way to attached to Mr. Friendly to say goodbye to him.
its hard not to believe you havea problem or insecurites about whta you are,if you are mixed it seven better, but what happens is that some kids who are mixed may feel ashamed of one of their inheritance, blacks have a bad reputation, behave aggressive, the cirme rate between them is high however not all are like that, I have noticed mixed kids feel ashamed of their black inheritance, but if they are only black they cant feel ashamed cause they wouldnt look right towards the rest. Im a male, heteroseuxal, love women, and love to be latino and mixed, kind of ashamed of my white background..being half white and being disriminated by them makes me angry, but there is always going to be this problems.you have to find a definition of whta u are..if you are half latino and half black u are zamba, if u r half white and halg black u are mulatta. over
hard to say. Since differing races have more in common than the ';average'; man and woman, I'd guess changing race would be easier by a little bit.
i am a female of hispanic decent and i have never had anyone show predjudice towards me...i have been asked several times..what are you lol.... they say i know you are not white but what are you mixed with
MYrace i would become a black stud babe magnet and get any woman i desire black dudes are smooth
Well, I think whatever is the hardest thing that you've gone through in your life is what defines you personally! For example, most white women I believe identify with being a woman first because they have not been ridiculed about their race as much as black women, but have experienced discrimination as a woman! This is an awsome question!
I never want to be a woman...... and I always want to be a white western male....just like all the arabs would like to be
I think most honest people would change their race if they could, maybe for a day or a couple of hours..
well that's an easy question, because i wouldn't have to. God wanted me to be black therefore I'm gonna stay black, He also made me a female, not a transvestite.
I would be a male so i could see what it felt like to get a bj.
I always wanted red hair. I think it would be neat to be a black woman for a while. I admire their strength and confidence.
It is a honor 2 be me. GOD made a decision 2 bring me here as I am and there would be no need 2 change my race. Because of my heritage I am apart of each race, all races are mixed, there is No Pure Race.

Why would anyone want 2 change what GOD created perfectly!

The only reason i would even consider changing gender would be so I could get in the head of a man and try 2 understand their point of views. Females and males thought process is so different it would be interesting 2 C why they think the way they do!
I would love to be a woman in India and enjoy all the attention that men give!
Start from Gender - I would prefer to be a very smart / tall (185 cm plus) / handsome / generous / witty / open-minded and well educated guy. We have more single girls than guys here in Hong Kong, so the lovely ladies would try their best to please me!!!

I'm a tall (176cm), smart, well educated, good looking Chinese career woman, the only bad thing is Chinese guys do not like tall and smart woman and I do not want to be a lesbian. hahaha!

As for Race - I'm kinda wish to be a Mongolian, the reason is if I were a Mongolian, I would be really proud of being a descendant of Genghis Khan. And definitely I can ride horses, galloping in that huge green grassland... wow..!!!!! I had horse riding training every weekend for more than 5 years, too bad that I had a fall, and hurt my back and quitted riding. I do miss riding a lot.

In fact, I have 2 male cousins who are about 185 cm in height and handsome too, one got married and one is dating with a very nice girl.

OK... Finish this dream talk and I have to go to bed and re-charge my battery for tomorrow.
i wouldn't change my identity for nothing in the world I'm a proud beautiful black women

    i would not.

    I wouldn't
Being a guy is a lot of responsibility, they have to work hard to support the one's they love. They usually sleep less, drink beer, eat unhealthy, try to be bossy, demanding.

As for a woman, it's easy, they depend on a man.
I would, only for a day though
I would be a guy for a day.

    I'm kindof curious.

Why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?

why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?

why do they change their gender??

why people do that and why they want to do that. don't they feel nice about themselves? Also, how does it affect their friends and loved ones? Why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?
They feel as if they have been born in the wrong body and are much happier being the sex opposite to what they are.

I guess if it was just out of the blue it would be a shock, but more friends and loved ones will know that this person is happier being the opposite sex they are before they even have the op to change. Why guys/women go to gender changing surgery?
because they were a girl born in a guys body or a boy in a girls body....and they jus t want to show who they really are.
they never change their gender they have always been the gender they're changing their sex to match

being trans is not a choice and when they have done studys on dead trans people they saw that the brain of trans people does match the gender they go by
to change their bits to what they identify with
people are sometimes born in the wrong bodies. my first husband fought his urges to be feminine. he was a regular guy. but in his mind he was a woman. he is now a woman. it took years of therapy, hormones and surgeries and i might add she is now a beautiful woman. it was with my understanding his feelings that we both got through the whole ordeal
on question one, women/men go through the gender reassignment surgery because they've been living as the opposite gender for sometime and the last phase in their transition would be to have the undesired part removed. they choose to have the reassignment surgery, because they've lived so long as their assigned gender, feeling out of place in that role. there are people out there who actually feel that way.

they dont feel nice about themselves in the gender they were born in, because of various reasons, but i've heard that those who go through gender reassignment surgery feel whole after going through it. but it's not something that someone can decide to do one day and actually have the surgery. it involves a heavy dose of counseling and alot of hormone therapy
Personally, I think transgendered people are a little nuts... It's one thing to be gay and like a person of the same sex; it's another to pay a crazy amount of money to have your sex and other parts of your body changed.

Neways, I'm not here to judge anyone... I just don't understand them.

To your question how does it affects their friends and loved ones... The only transgendered I know is a guy a work (used to be a lady); he lost everything from friends to family. His friends won't talk to him anymore and his family disowned him.

    Hope my answer helps
About the friends and loved ones thing:

New friends can be made, only true friends will accept you how you are and how you see yourself. Loved ones like relatives are a more touchy matter, I think eventually parents, siblings, etc get over it. They have to, if my sister only saw me as her brother and would never see me as her little sister (I'm MTF) then I guess there's really nothing I can do about it. I'm sure she'll still love me and I still love her.
    They want to have ';fun';
because they are dishonest with them self

How old do beta fish live to be?

And can beta fish change genders? cause mine has a really swollen belly and i don't know if that is just because he is old, If he is sick or if he is changing genders, because he also has a white spot on his stommach like the females do and he has stripes, and i heard that only females have stripes. please help. How old do beta fish live to be?
Male Betta's have long flowing fins and the females have short fins with body stripes.

Most Betta's with the best of care only live about a year in captivity, maybe longer in a good working tank, but not long in bowls.

The white spot sounds like an infection of some sort. You can take a picture of it and take the pic to the pet store and they could give you some medicine for it .How old do beta fish live to be?
they live to be like 2-3 years old..
depends on how big your tank is, long time for bigger tanks if they can't swim cuz there is no rm i don't think they can live to long
MOST OF THE TIME A DAY BUT IF YOUR LUCKY TWO DAYS
i'm not sure how long they live, but mine jumped out of the water and landed in a dry glass next to it's tank. i'm not sure how long it was in there, but i was amazed to see that it was still breathing when i found it and it lived a long time afterwards.....till i flushed it anyway....the damn thing wouldn't die!!
are those the chinese fighting fish that you cant really put more than one in a tank?

if they are, i know someone whos had one for over 7? years i think?

as for the changing genders thing.. i dont know.

    --------------------

haha after reading some of the other answers, i have a feeling i may be wrong about the 7 years thing. i couldve sworn tahts what he told me??
yes 1-2 years max..and your guy has an infection or a fungus.most captive betas die in about a year unless

you're VERY careful AND lucky. they get infections over

    and over again.
Ive had my same fish for 2 years ,I think if you keep the tank really clean we clean ours every 2 weeks and I only feed them 3x a week they';ll live longer at least mine have.
Betta tend to live for only a couple years.

I KNOW what you are talking about with the male going stripey. I have seen this when a male is getting old and his color loses its vibrant brilliance. The stripes become more evident and he looks plain.

It's sad, swimming becomes sluggish. As he gets older, he also loses his resistance to disease. A swollen body is a generic form of dropsy, general illness. I've never had a 'cure' for it but when a fish gets dropsy they are on their way out. :(

My goldfish that I kept would life five or 10 additional years after I got them. Male betta would normally be under a year old when I buy them and usually did not last more than two years after that. :(

A random page on dropsy I found:

    http://www.healthybetta.com/articles/Ill
Bettas can't change genders, and females don't have large belly even if they are full of eggs. Generally healthy betta live 3-5 years. It sounds like he has the early stages of organ failure leading to dropsy. As a result of poor water quality over his life time. He might benefit from weekly cleanings, and maybe a course of melafix, or bettafix. A salt treatment of 1 tea spoon per 2.5 gallon might help as well.
for some reason my betas only live for like a month and misteriously died....hmm...i dunno.
whenever i wanted my betas to live, they stayed alive for about 2 hrs, but then i got one that i didn't like and he lived for 5 and half years. true. they're spiteful . if you want them to live, they die. when you want them to die, they live.
my betta lived to be 5 yrs old i had him in a 10 gal. tank all by himself with lots of plants and caves for him to play in. the fish does get a swollen belly when its old.
Male Bettas live over 5 years with excellant care and I've heard of 10 but that is very exceptional. They should do well for over 3 years.

Keep them warm ,low eighties with regular water changes. A good mixed diet and try to include some live foods.
they live longer than 2 or 3 years cause my is going on 3 or 4 and doing just fine. i clean the tank out when it starts lookin dirty and feed it every day once!

female to male is safer than vise-versa 'cuz the doc doesn't have to create a vagina, uterus, cervix, etc; they only got build a long tube (penis) and attach it. Easier...

How safe it is to change the gender (transition from female to male) ?
It's pretty safe if you do the research on the doctor before going through with it. If the doctor's reputation proves him/herself, then you should be alright. There are no guarantees you'll have a good reaction to the hormones or the post-surgery medicines and what not. The best way to stay safe is to know what the doctor is saying. Ask questions and know the doctor very very VERY well before going through with anything. The more you know the more you'll figure out if the doctors the right one for you.
Its safe - but a long, time consuming that is very costly - emotionally and financially. See the attached site for some peoples' experiences.
one can change safely enough but being accepted is another issue all together!
its safer than MTF for one reason:

trans men pass better, their face masculinizes faster and more completley so its harder to tell they are trans, so its much less chance of being killed

other than that im totally transissioned and i have had no real physical problems aside from my cholesterol going way up, otherwise im healthy

its a hard road and a difficult life being trans but its better for me than being in the body i was born with
It has different effects on everyone. But it is pretty safe. Taking T can make you aggressive and angry if you don't take the right doses. And of course there are risks with any surgery. But if you are informed and have good doctors you'll be fine.

My friend thinks she needs a ';gender change'; should i be scared...?

at school she hangs around alot of girls as if she were a man...she scares me and i am starting not to want her around me but she still follows...how can i get rid of her%26gt;?My friend thinks she needs a ';gender change'; should i be scared...?
if you are a friend you would respect your friends character and it may be a phase. show her some support about her display of her personality. My friend thinks she needs a ';gender change'; should i be scared...?
    from girl-gurl or guy-girl
    Any thing is possible.
tell her to go away and just leive you alone and you don't want her to come near you again
tell her honestly that you don't want her around. if she asks why, just tell her what you wrote here.
weird girl! i bet when she grows up she'll be a l-esbian or something like that. Just staight off tell her you don't want to be around her anymore unless she changes. If she keeps hanging around tell the principal and he will probably talk to her and tell her that you aren't her friend anymore---then she'll understand
    tell her
tell her that you need time to think about ur friendship or something like that.

or, you could tell her to just leave you the fuc* alone.
I think it's a phase. Still, take her seriously and ask her why. Most often this stems for psychological trauma from the past. if she doesn't know of any, ask if she has a mental block where she doesn't remember a period of time in her life.

Changing God's creation is never normal. if she wants to explore this, just help her along. You might make it a point to find the tough stuff. Like how long it takes to get authority to do it, how she will have to prove her hormonal gender prior to surgery, how sometimes the surgery is unsuccessful.

I know people who have done this, it's not a small process. Sure she can run to Mexico, but Oh My God!
Tell her that if she's going to get a gender change then tell her that you don't hang out with people like that. *BTW* there's a person like that at my school. (Tell her this too) She now goes to my high school, but before she went to the other middle school in my town, and she was a girl in 6th grade didn't go in 7th grade and came back as a boy in 8th grade. The school made her give a speech at the assembly telling the WHOLE school who she was really, and now that were in high school she has to change in the office for gym and use the restroom in the office. Because the girls don't want her in the girls restroom and the guys don't want her in the guys. We don't know if she really got a gender change or not, she like a wigger guy. It's so disgusting....

How have representations of gender changed over time?

    For men and women.

Please explain the differences from like the 1950s to now.How have representations of gender changed over time?
Well, in the 1950s, men were depicted as wearing a hat, and women aprons, and both were in black and white and smoking. In the '60s everything changed with the advent of Technicolor, and both men and women would be represented au naturale, or ';nude,'; as they called it in those days. Beginning in 1972, men and women were represented by a group of wild motorcycle enthusiasts who were ';strung out'; on PCP, or ';angel dust.'; The men were represented by Walter Matthau, and the women by Emmy-winning actress Jean Stapleton. By the '80s, the landscape had changed once again, and the men were depicted wearing pastel t-shirts reading ';Frankie Says Relax,'; while the women were represented by a giant, feathered hairstyle. From 1996 until the present day, men have been depicted by a midget being punched in the 'nads by a chimpanzee, and women have been represented by a late-night commercial featuring a blurred set of breasts.

This is in the U.S. of course. Let me know if you need a review of stereotypes stretching across time from around the globe, or help with any of your other homework. How have representations of gender changed over time?

i think you can do a lot of research first before you make any major decisions to be for certain if this is something you want to do. I mean we arent talking changing your clothes. Maybe do research and talk to some other people in your same boat or someone that has gone through this. I would say research research research.I am a female and i want change my gender what can i do?
well, it would definately hurt but i also know you'll be subjected to a lifetime medication.
there is nothing you can do. no matter how many surgeries you go through, you will never be a natural man. i would suggest thinking about the positive things you possess and go on with life
We are not all doctors. Why don't you just go to whoever (privately). It's very disgusting to hear about these gay issues. We would like to read /answer questions without feeling like puking..if you know what I mean.

What should i wear to a gender change party?

I'm a guy, and I'm going to a gender-bender party on Thursday. Basically everyone dresses up as the other gender, there's food and drinks, and we party. Everyone acts like their part, it's pretty fun.

I'm 5 foot 5, 120 lbs, blonde hair, blue eyes. I don't mind going out and buying anything or going to a salon or whatever. I still don't know what I have to do to pull this off. I kinda have a girl butt so I know that helps, and my hair has grown out for winter down to my shoulders.

Any tips on how to look and act? I want to go all out. You can pm me at chetshep99 too. Ty

What should i wear to a gender change party?
Do plaits in your hair or go to a salon and they will do it for you. Wear a skirt and a boob tube or something with tights. Wear high heels or stilettos, and get the salon person to put loads of make-up on you. Sounds like fun, just a joke, have a good time and hope you look great. How old is too old for opposite gender in change room at pool?

I have an almost 8 year old daughter, she goes to swimming lessons, they have 3 change rooms, 1 for boys, 1 for females and ones a family change room, meant for mothers who bring their sons or dads who bring their daughters, I go to the female change room, when we were in there, some mom brought in her (what looked to be) 6-7 year old son, I assume the family room was packed, but it made my daughter uncomfortable to undress in front of him, and he seemed just as embarrassed to undress, I talked to the receptionist at the front and she said if it happens again to tell the head life guard and they will remind the women that she should wait for the family room, I have a 13 month old son and am prepared to have to wait for change rooms when he is of age to go to swimming lessons.

Is it just me or is any kid over 3, too old to be in the opposite genders change room? How old is too old for opposite gender in change room at pool?
At the age that they ask to go to the other dressing room. As a girl when I was 10 we had a swimming pool that was open to both with stalls to dress in . Some would dress in the open area as guys 5 to 9 years. How old is too old for opposite gender in change room at pool?
I agree with you. 6 or 7 is way too old for a boy to be in the girls locker room. Shame on his mom.
I agree. Hell if I had a daughter/son I would have her wearing the swim suit underneath the normal clothes. That way nothing is exposed all that they would have to take off is their clothes and they are all ready.

Who knows what pervs are in the bathroom?
She may feel enbarresed so take her in a private 1 ???
    sure why not.
I know what you mean. At our local pool there are boys even older than that in the female changing rooms. We don't have a 'family' option, so I guess the mothers at my pool are just trying to protect their sons from possible predators if they went into the male changing room alone. However I do think that boys over the age of 8 shouldn't be in the girls changing area its embarrassing for all concerned.
Ya I understand a kid being maybe 4 or 5 much still that is a little old still I would say. Sorry for your inconvenience. Parents should know better now a days with the youth and how they are acting.
Age 6-7 is more than old enough.

That being said. One class I took we all had boys, every single one of us. With ages from 5-9 (the 9 year old had special needs) so we decided to use the women's washroom to change together instead of us waiting one at a time to change. But there were no groups after us so it didn't make anyone else feel uncomfortable.
If this is all you have to worry about--------Then you are truly blessed!

What in the hell are you going to do when they become teen agers?

I have raised and am still raising 3 generations of kids and believe me you ain't seen nothing yet! (smile)
I agree with that completely. At the age of 7 my senile grandmother took me into a woman's bathroom at the airport (so I wouldn't get kidnapped.) Another woman came in, saw me standing in front of the mirror with my head down, and laughed. The hell if I'll ever do that to my children.
All the public pools I've ever been to have private stalls within the change room, but it sounds like yours doesn't. My oldest son is 6 and I have brought him with me into the public bathroom. If the pool has a rule against a certain age, then I certainly would wait for the family change room, but if not, I would take him in the women's with me if DH wasn't there to take him with him.

Better yet, I don't take my kids into the change rooms at all because they wear their swimsuits to the pool and back. I've had them change in the car (which has dark tinted windows in the rear and passenger side) when they haven't before, rather than make them change in the locker room.

JavatheHutt: It's not strange these days to see boys as old as 7 and 8 in the women's restrooms with their mothers, with the increase of sexual predators, mothers are just being careful, so while it might have been strange several years ago, today I see it all the time. I do it myself.
It's incredibly rude to bring boys into that room. The whole purpose of the ';female'; room is to serve females who want privacy from males. Some boys are brought in who arent even going to change, theyre just with a female. .Changing can be done in other available locations, including a family room, a car, or at home. At the very least, a heads up must be given to occupants. Older boys just being watched over can stand at the door, outside. And you are one of the few right on target as to age, I knew what was going on when I was 4, and I did not want to go in there. Think about this: what if the ones walking in on you are people you know? What if the boys next door have just been brought in to you by their mother, and there you stand on display. Or it's your classmates or friends. (And dont think older boys just being watched don't want to sneak in!) It's rude, it's selfish, and it's unnecessary.

21 and they are processes of operations and hormonesWhats the process of going through female-to-male gender change?
I'm pretty sure that which ever sex your aspiring to be its one year that you have to live like that but I'm no expert.

Good luck with what ever you decide to do.
Whether you need psychiatric approval (and how much) depends on what exactly you're going for and where.

For most people who are XX but need to live as men, the first major physical change is testosterone supplements. Most encocrinologists (hormone doctors) require one letter from a psychiatrist certifying that you're trans and mentally stable, though some doctors and institutions (esp. queer clinics) work on an informed consent model.

Testosterone injections cause the biggest change in your general appearance - basically they send you through male puberty. And they're not a one-time thing; if you want to keep your testosterone at the level average for a man your age, you have to keep doing regular injections. It's the same treatment used for cisgender (ie, not trans) men who've suffered accidental castration.

On surgical reconstructive options for trans masculine people - there are a bunch of different options and doctors. Different ones have different requirements concerning shrink's letters or how long you have to live your daily life as a man before they'll work with you. Generally speaking, two letters and one year seems about average. But it varies depending on whether you're looking for a hystorectomy, chest reconstruction, or genital reconstruction. You can probably get a hysto without a letter. And the others, you might be able to if you've lived as a man for years.
The number of Psychs that you may be required to see will depend on the area that you live in. It could 1 or occasionally two.

The RLE/RLT is typically from 18 months, but can be a little longer.

Is my family and friends in denial and in non-acceptance about my name then gender change?

I got a name change about 10 months ago and nobody uses the new name. It is if they don't care or even attempt to even try to use it at all. It angers me every time I hear the previous name because I am T so therefore it links to an old self I am leaving.

Because of how everyone is still using the same damn name for soo long, I have lost the excitment of starting over into a new life.

It looks like to me if they can't accept and utilize my new name, what about my new gender?

What should I do to help them change from using the old name as well as what could being going through their heads about me?Is my family and friends in denial and in non-acceptance about my name then gender change?
Simply refuse to answer to your old name. It's disrespectful of them to use your old name, even if they are understandably still more comfortable with it. You may have to move and start over somewhere else where your old identity is not known to be able to truly start over as your new identity. Is my family and friends in denial and in non-acceptance about my name then gender change?
Ignore them when they use the old name. Don't give in to them. Make it known that this is who you are!!!
Gender reassignment aside, changing your name is pretentious. They're probably expressing anger over your sex change, but I would do it because I don't give people the latitude to arbitrarily change things about themselves that I'd spent years learning about. A rose by another name is not a rose, it's a misnomer. Altria is still Philip Morris, Xe is still Blackwater, and you are still the name yer mama gave you. You are who you were.
Give them time these kind of things are always hard for parents to accept.
Why don't you TRY BEING A LITTLE MORE SENSITIVE TO THEM?

You've been their son/brother for your ENTIRE LIFE. You can't just ask them to think of you as a girl or call you by something other than what they have been calling you your entire life.

One of the biggest problems I have with the transgendered and gay community is that they think they deserve to be treated better just because they are gay. STOP TRYING TO DISGUISE YOUR QUEST FOR SUPERIORITY BY CALLING IT EQUALITY.

This is a rough and rocky time for you, I understand that. But think about what it's doing to them. I consider myself an EXTREMELY liberal conservative when it comes to the gay/transgendered community. Most transgendered people would be ecstatic just to have their parents accept them and continue to love them after coming out of the closet. But for the rest of you it just seems like you're not happy unless you can victimize yourself.

Stop making the fact that you're gay or transgendered the only personality trait you have, because quite frankly, IT'S PATHETIC, and makes everyone else think of you as one dimensional.

To the tard below (har) me:

I don't have to understand transsexuals personally to know that the OP is incredibly ******* selfish. You read that I was a conservative and you popped the 'u dunt understandz me!11 gawsh!'; card, predictably I might add.

If my brother was transitioning into a woman I'd still call him by his original name, because it would be hard enough to watch him grow ttits without having to call himfucking Elizabeth.

I realize that transgendered people go through rough times. But just because not everyone you know doesn't call you by a girl name doesn't mean they are heartless or don't WANT to understand or accept you.

Try being a little bit more sensitive to the people who love you, because they are going through a hard time with it too.
I know someone who is fully transitioned who addressed this issue. She said, ';Let them call you what they want. They are the ones who are going to look like idiots when they call someone who is obviously a woman by a man's name or someone who is obviously a man by a woman's name.'; The same thing goes with pronouns.

    Another person I know said, ';Tell your family that there is also a security issue. Some people will attack people who are thought to be transsexual.';

And don't answer to the old name at all, ever. Train yourself to ignore anyone who calls you by the old name completely. Then when they demand to know why you're ignoring them, simply tell them you didn't hear your name. If they say they were calling you, then say that is no longer my name - use my legal name.

And to Honestly, now: Anyone else who gets a legal name change expects to be called by the legal name, why should a transsexual be treated any differently?

And to LOL SUP: I don't know where your anger comes from, but it is definitely misplaced here. You have no understanding of a transsexual's life and feelings, and it seems as though you don't want to know. We just want to be treated as the people we are. Don't you want to be treated as the person you are? I'm sure you do. How would you feel if someone treated you as the opposite of what you are all your life? Think about it.
First, congrats on your life-changing events. I respect someone who knows what they want and who attempts to seek it out no matter what anyone thinks or says.

Second, although I'm not LGBT, maybe I can bring something from the other side of the table. People are creatures of habit. They have always seen you in a certain way, and breaking that view is hard for them, like a parent who, no matter how old their child gets, still views them as that little 3-year-old who stole their heart. And possibly they are in denial about your chosen changes... maybe seeing this as something that will pass.

Just keep reminding them that this is who you are, have actually always been inside, and that your new name is a fresh start for you. And, like another person said, don't answer when they use your old name. Eventually, they'll get it.

Keep your chin up and live your life. And make it a great one!
Some will never understand Us, so I say ignore them and move on in your life. Or you can stay in the same way as now. It is up to you.
When they use your old name don't answer them. Don't even acknowledge the old name. If you have friends, bring them around. Make sure that they call you by your new name a lot. When you answer the phone say this is ';your new name';. Also you can write your name on all your stuff. When they hear and see it enough eventually they will finally get use to it. They may not like it, but oh well.

you and Your friend; who is also your gender, have been friends with this guy/gal ever since you were in kindergarten. You are both the best of friends, you both have been dumped a lot of times. He/she how bad it makes him/her feel that you are down (which throws you off) then he/she says how he/she cares (which is another throw off) and says how if he/she could turn into a girl he/she would want to date you since you like the opposite sex.what would you do.What if your bestfriend wanted to change genders in order to date you?

One of my friends, who never lies, told me once he knew someone who went to mexico with his parents and was forced to get a gender change. He said he was twelve at the time and was forced to get breast implants, his privates.. chopped off, and to get surgery to fully become a woman. I told him how was this possible? Isn't it illegal in america? Wouldn't the parents have consequences when they came back? Could this just happen? I only somewhat beleive him cause he has never told a lie and we've been friends for a'while. Is it possible to get forced to have a gender change by your parents in mexico with no consequences for them?
It would not happen no surgeon would do that to a 12 year old. The person has to have been on hormones for a period of time and they have to have been tested. The whole thing with the standards of care is that people cannot go through transition unless they really need it. You cannot get the surgery until you are 18 and have passed a lot of tests. Hormone treatment is the most effective at a younger age (in your teens) but it's I never too late to start. Plenty of people start it when they are older. Talk to your GP and ask as many questions as you can think of, they don't mind answering them :) Good luck!!

When an employee has a gender change operation, how much of the additional costs am I liable for?

Ok, so I figured it wasn't a big thing having new business cards made up along with re-touching the company group photo to reflect the change from a man to a woman by my HR Director, but now , since he is now a woman, my state requirment for X number of restroom facilities for women has been deemed lacking. Now I'm on the hook to install another restroom just because he decided to flip to the other gender.

Seems to me that, in the spirit of cooperation, he could continue the use the mens' room.

I have talked to him/her, and have not had a clear response from him/her.

I am concerned about my exposure here. When an employee has a gender change operation, how much of the additional costs am I liable for?
Having worked with transgendered (male to female) you must now refer to him as ';her'; without the slash. You stated your company employs 30 people. Regardless of sex or number of employees, you are only required to provide one restroom per 20 employees of any gender. Any complaints you receive from her are bogus. At this rate we'll soon be having to provide 2 extra washroom facilities. One for homosexuals and one for lesbians. Personally, I've used many men's washroom facilities in an emergency when the women's has been pre-occupied. Don't know what all the fuss is about myself. When an employee has a gender change operation, how much of the additional costs am I liable for?
you S out of luck, dude.

your next employee could easily have been a woman anyway and you can't discriminate against a woman applicant because you lack bathroom space.
He's not a real woman, now tell him to man up and get into the washroom with the rest of the guys!
well, if ALL you employees start dressing in drag...issue solved.
I hope your question is driven by ignorance, so reading a couple of sources below will help you to understand this matter.

The person doesn't flip to another gender. They correct their physical appearance (sex) to correspond the perceived gender (which, essentially, is what they are born with). Thus in the case when your employee has a gender reassignment surgery from male to female, it means that her sex (male) did not correspond her gender (female).

It's also extremely rude to say ';he'; or ';he/she'; about someone who identifies female, and clearly stated that fact to you.

As for your concerns about the washroom, I find it hard to believe that presence of one more woman changes the required number of restrooms, unless you didn't have any female employees and don't have a women restroom at all. It also can be qualified as discrimination against women, since what you essentially say is ';I will not hire women anymore, because presence of one more woman will cause me to install another restroom';.

In short: you can go the harassment/discrimination route, in which case I wish your transsexual female employee good luck in suing your butt.

Or you can flip your attitude: accept her rights, be professional, and not make such a big deal of the whole story. In this case I think everyone will forget about it in a month, and she will be treated as just any other woman in your workplace.

I think second is much easier and less costly.

  • How do you deal with someone who wants to change genders?

let me start by saying that I'm young.

and I know not the real ways of the world, so I come to yahoo answers to assist me in my time of need.

so I really like this girl i just met at school a while back.

but I just found out in a kind of difficult way that she would really rather be a guy.

    but not it's so strange.

I mean, how can I like a girl thats a guy?

I know all that ';judge a person by their character, not sex organs'; stuff is true, but its such a strange wake up call.

does anyone have any advice about what the proper reaction to a situation like this is?How do you deal with someone who wants to change genders?
The proper reation is to respect him for who he is. He is certain he was born male, just in the wrong body. This problem is more common than you know. Just be supportive of your friendHow do you deal with someone who wants to change genders?
First you understand that they are not trying to change their gender...they are trying to do something that allows them to be the gender they already are despite the body they were born with.

So keep liking him, support him, be a friend because he's going to need a lot of friends. Go on line and educate yourself about what your friend is going to do.

It's OK to be taken aback when you learn something like this but if he is your friend tell him how you feel right now and maybe get him to explain it to you a little better.

It's not your gender identity. It's his...and get used to the pronoun because that's appropriate for this situation.

You like this person. Right? Well, what about this person do you really like? I'll bet the reasons you like him have to do with more than him having been a girl (which he never was anyway). Look into his eyes and you will see the same person. Look inside yourself first. It's not up to you to judge your friend...just love and support him on his very long journey.

He has been very uncomfortable in a body that did not match his gender for many years. Try to understand that and dwell on your reaction.
';Gender'; is not defined by the physical body, it is what is within the brain. Your friend is not trying to ';change';, she/he is trying to adjust the outside to fit the inside. The best way for you to deal with this is to just accept your friend and stand beside them. Don't judge .. study, learn and share your love for them as a Person... NOT a genital, but a gender based Person.

You might want to read ';She's Not There'; by Jenny Boylan. And the 2 books by Helen Boyd, ';My Husband Betty'; and ';She's not the Man I Married';. Although they are more focused on Male to Female changes ... the inner concepts stand true for Female to Male.
Just allow them to be who they are. If they are a free spirit then let them fly. Cherish the friendship. Sometimes nature has rules we do not understand
Yeah, react to this situation the same way you would react if you discovered that one of your best friends likes to eat cheeseburgers.

Does your assumption about someone's gender change how you view their parenting advice (ridiculously long)?

I have been going back and forth on the ethics of this since I started this account, but in the last few days, most notably in the question about crushes on me and someone’s statement about how valuable my opinion is specifically because they see me as a dad, I’ve decided that my position has become indefensible.

I’m female. I’m a married mom of four kids. I used to post here as “mom as 4”. After being seriously harassed by a couple of creepy people, I started a new account with a male avatar (with a gender-neutral name) with the sole intention of ending the harassment. It worked beautifully; the harassment stopped. [Interestingly, my questions and answers, which previously were perceived as totally unremarkable, suddenly began to be showered with compliments. I could write an entire book on what I’ve learned about how people treat someone based on their perceived gender. ]

In my defense, such as it is, I’ve never once said I’m male. Never once. I’ve said explicitly on this board that I don’t reveal everything about myself online and that though I wouldn’t lie, I would and do allow other people’s misimpressions of me on here to stand uncorrected. I’ve never answered a single question directed towards dads or men, or to which I thought my gender was somehow relevant to evaluating my answer (and I’ve answered hundreds of questions directed towards moms and women).

Every single thing I’ve ever said in any question or answer is true; every opinion I’ve given is my own; every fact I’ve shared about my experiences with my kids is real; my exchanges with all of you, whether I like you or not, have all been utterly genuine. My face doesn’t match my avatar, but I am exactly what you’ve seen in all other ways. The avatar was never for a second intended to deceive real users, just to put off creepy trolls. I’ve kept my email off largely because I thought that developing that kind of personal relationship ethically required revealing my real gender. It was never my intention to seek out or make friends on this board at all; that has happened quite by accident. I honestly never expected to be particularly noticed on this board, and even if I were, I didn’t think my gender would be relevant. I’ve had dozens of conversations with real-life friends who assured me that my gender was irrelevant to my opinions and there was nothing wrong with using a male avatar on an anonymous site like this one; I’ve even had multiple exchanges with people on this board where virtually everyone said that they wouldn’t care about something like that. I allowed myself to be reassured by those exchanges, but at this point I’ve decided I should not have. I shouldn’t have done it, and I regret it.

So, there it is. I am “desmeran,” but desmeran is not a guy. I hope nobody cares. If you do care, you have my apology. And if you’re all sufficiently irked, or if the “boy who cried wolf” effect is strong enough that you find it hard to believe anything else I say, then I can acknowledge that I brought that on myself, and I suppose that will probably be a good impetus for me to finally go do something more productive with my day. If you want me to stay out of your questions, please make that clear by blocking me, and I will honor that.

Off to change my avatar and absorb some well-earned criticism.Does your assumption about someone's gender change how you view their parenting advice (ridiculously long)?
it is human nature to judge a book by it's cover. LOL, good experiment. Many of us coincide that a man could not possibly know how to parent as well as a more experienced mother. Your disadvantage in your experiment is the fact you/or someone else identified you as a lawyer. That made you smart in the eyes of the world, and no matter what your advice people would be more prone to listen to you, even if you appeared to be male.Does your assumption about someone's gender change how you view their parenting advice (ridiculously long)?
wow interesting. I think I remember you as mom of 4. I am shocked and while I sort of feel deceived, I totally understand why you did it and the outcome was interesting, I grew to love Des, but I'm pretty sure I loved you as mom of 4 as well.
i only thought you were male because of others calling you ';Uncle Des'; but I dont care if you are male, female of even something in between. you make me laugh, even if your kid does have smelly feet!!!!
Wow! Your still a cool person :)

Now I get why on your other answer, you said your avatar does not resemble you in the least ;)
Wow I'm speechless! Your still my fav though and I'll always greatly appreciate and value your opinion.
Whew! How does being ';out of the closet'; feel? I'm so proud of you!!! LOL
Wow amazing! I still love your questions and answers!
    Rofl :-)

    I thought you sounded familiar!

I've been suggesting to my husband that he come on here %26amp; flirt around a bit for fun, since the girls really seem to love a man who parents like him ;-)

ETA: You've made my day right now. How fun! I'm singing ';Did I ever tell you you're my hero'; in my head for you right now :-p

    OK - and one more ETA, because I didn't answer your question... ';Does your assumption about someone's gender change how you view their parenting advice?';

Only in that it makes me stop to think, if the 'man' is presenting himself as a thoughtful, gentle, concerned, involved parent, ';Wow this is cool how the world is changing! And, this guy sure is strong, emotionally, to buck societal expectations %26amp; live in a way that he knows is right for him and for his family'; But, the advice itself has to stand on it's own merits.
i have never read any of your questions, except for this one. but i have seen your answers from some of my contacts, and i thought you were a guy to only because of the avatar. but man or woman, i don't care what you are. apparently im not on enough to catch one of your questions. :)
Well - I am newer to the boards than some, and not as new as most. I only came across this question because of the crush one... and then I thought someone had stolen your identity. I now know different.

I am of a position that I always looked forward to your answers because of the fact that you seem to have the rules and advice that I always want. The things I want to apply to my house and feel opposed by my spouse. I am not always strong enough to believe that the way I want things are the right way. I am getting there though and sometimes just need to be reaffirmed. For some, people like me, this is sometimes really important. YA gives advice, jokes, and a camaraderie that some of us don't have in real life.

I did look forward to the male perspective of it, but overall the answer is the important thing. I always wished you would accept friends, so maybe this is a blessing! lol... Thank you for your personality, and your candor, and I hope this doesn't effect your YA relationship too much!

Looking forward to many more answers (boosters) from you --- Schmee.
    So you aren't that less-than-romantic guy I thought you were? ; )

Okay... Here's what I got out of this experiment (and I'm sure you are all too familiar w/ this)... I've made myself more cautious of how I word things..... You won't see me asking a question that is directed to the *moms* on this board. Lesson learned. That's it. : )

Nothing else has changed. I still view you as a parent that I admire and enjoy. Hey, at least now I can say I love desmeran and not feel awkward, lol. ...... And, you do know what this is going to do to Charli, right?
No criticism from me. You did what you had to do to fend of internet stalkers. You ever deliberately lied to anyone.
For the very short time that I have come to know you ..... about as far as last week, when everyone was calling me a troll, you stood out to me, but probably because you ';were'; a man. Besides Mr Wybie, you were the only man that answered my questions.

Your answers are always very good and like most others said, who cares male or female, inny or outy, no difference really when it came to your answers.

You truly seem like a very nice lady and its totally understandable why you did it too.
honestly I think people do make assumptions about gender when it comes to raising children, because in more cases than not a man doesn't really take care of his children, they see it as a mothers job not a fathers job. When people see a father taking an active role in their children's live they think WOW he is a good man,but if you are a mother taking an active role in your children's lives they see it as a duty that you are suppose to do...but yeah this is actually funny kind of like undercover research.
Well, I always assumed you were a man, based on your avatar, but that's not why I liked you. I like your opinions. You did seem sensitive (is that the word?) for a man, but also honest, rational and intelligent...and like a good parent, which is all that matters on here!
    I'm surprised...but not offended.

I think I can explain the compliments though...your answers seem insightful and correct...and it was amazing that they'd be coming from a man...No offense to any dad's in the room. That was one of the reasons that I'd scroll down to see your answers...quite honestly.

That's not to say that men aren't excellent parents too or that they don't also have great advice...I just find that not only is that more true for women...but men also don't seem to communicate the same way.

So to have found an insightful male parent on an advice board, communicating articulately and insightfuly...that was amazing in and of itself...lol

In any case...I'm with Johnny's mom...I'm shocked, but not offended and will be thoroughly confused if you go and change your avatar and your name.

    :)
    Holy. Mary. Mother. Of. God.

Welps, now that the initial shock has warn off, I still value your opinion Ms. Des (or would you prefer Mrs. Des?).

I harbor no resentment or ill feelings towards you, now will you allow me to add you as a contact???

*Interesting to note that it does make Charli's whole fantasy about you dancing to Footloose in legwarmers just as funny!*
I admire your honesty , rather male or female. I think people did have more interst due to the fact it was coming from ';a male perspective';. Not that men don't have good parenting skills , they just usally don't talk about it as much.

You can still give us your insight, values views, and all the things that you did, but like the others have said it wont be as special, because it is expected more from moms.

You can still answer my questions, and I will still answer yours.

the thing that will confuse me more is having to look for your avatar and name lol
Desmeran, I love you, will you be my contact NOW? Lol. Nothing's changed but I will have to adjust my fantasies. Congrats on coming out.
WOW!!!!! I missed this earlier (although I saw and answered the question from Johnny's mommy). Yes, I am surprised and maybe the open minded me I thought I was needs and overhaul. The picture really did look male though and the name being ambiguous. Now I feel silly. You wrote a question about missing children once and I said you were thinking like a man;) We love ya no matter whether you're xy xx or yyy or yza:)
Wow.I have to admit I am shocked. But ether way I respect you as a parent and a person.I think you give great advice.I guess nothing really has changed you are still the same person. You are des or what ever your name is.I still respect your answers because they are good advice.
Your answers are what matters. They are good answers. I will hope that you continue to answer the questions I have with the same thoughtfulness. And I will answer yours the same. And I don't even know if you want my answers.
Wow, I'm shocked, I never would have guessed. But, NO my opinion still has not changed, we still ♥ you!
First, I will admit I didn't read ALL of it (I affectionately blame my ADD), but I am shocked. It's very interesting how it all panned out though. And to admit I had a ';crush'; on your intelligence is embarassing hahaha. You really had me fooled with your male avatar and your compassion and intelligence that a lot of men seem to lack (at least on this board). You stood out soley because of your male avatar and ';represented'; men in a positive way. I'm definately not angry, just shocked and suprised!
i am touched. i am taking you at complete face value. thats all i have. i commend you. i am in awe of you. i find you to be an excellent woman. i have always admired your views on equality and wondered how exactly a man could have so much insight into issues i deem ';woman'; ones, in my own mind, of course. i don't mean to be sexist w/that statement at all. it is just my own personal experience with the world around me.

des my dear you are a resource that this board needs very much. please do not go away because of this. it would be too sad.

you owe us not an explaination, but since you did, that is character that is uncommon. to shower you with more praise i feel would just make you uncomfortable, so i will just say - thank you for your honesty. :-)
Everyone has spoken pretty much what I would say ! You sound really sincere, but I don't think I can picture you as a mom lol :-) I've had two accounts before, and both I deleted because people were rude and permissive. You did answer some questions I asked in those accounts, and from then on I was a fan. You honestly changed my perspectives on men, and in hope that there are some really decent men %26amp; fathers out there who play active and vital roles in their children's lives.

You always were and are always gonna be deserman, the fabulous parent with good ethics and morals ::: but everyone on this broad just assumed you were a dude !!!
WTF? Didn't you see my *confession* Q yesterday?? You could've posted this there and saved 5 points!!

But I a shocked as well! I guess I tend to believe what people on here tell me, since I have no other way of knowing the truth.

I'm not mad or angry, you are who you are whether it's male or female. I still believe that your opinions are still the truth and that's all that matters.
I suspected, Desmeran, because you never referred to your 'wife' only your spouse!

i can be a pretty sharp marble, sometimes!

I did defend you once though, when someone posted a question about whether desmeran was a male or female.

But this new revelation does not make me want you to stay out of my questions~ not sure why it would. If anything, bring all your answers on!
Huh... Your answers always stuck out to me because my husband is a SAHD and is just as involved as you are (not always the case with husbands).

    Either way, who cares IMO.
Don't care if your a man or woman. I do respect the way you have with words however and a lot of people listen to you. So keep up the good advice. Now the men haters are coming out. Thank you.
I take a few days off to deal with an asthma attack and we've got MAJOR developments. Interesting.

Well, congrats to you on your study in human behaviors towards the different sexes :)

Can you do anything if you dont get approved for a gender change?

can you get a second chance? and how do they see that you are okay for a gender change? I know you have to live for a long time as an opposite gender, but how do they decide who can get a gender change and who cant? do they look after your personality?

what if someone wants to become the opposite gender but started doing things like crossdressing as an adult? can they still get a gender change? I know from documentaries that people who get a gender change never felt comfortable with their body since they were children. Can you do anything if you dont get approved for a gender change?
I have never heard of this ';Don't get approved'; thing. I've heard of some therapists saying people are not ready or they don't believe in such antics. But there really is no official from they fill out and stamp denied on. If one therapist or psychologist says no you are free to talk to another. Of course if a string of them say no, maybe there is something they are telling you that you are not hearing.

As to what you can do, you can do anything that doesn't require major surgery and hormones. If you are a guy you can stat electrology, cross dress, get make up, even build up a female persona. If you are a woman, the options are similar. In some states you can even swap out your name to something gender netural on your DL, with little or no fuss, you could even in most states get a legal name change.

All you really need a doctors approval for is hormones and surgery and in many cases if you swap your gender out fully, many doctors would give you a pass on hormones and surgery since you've showed intent. Can you do anything if you dont get approved for a gender change?
i think you should get a second opinion. no one can tell you that you cant get a gender change. its your body. and as long as you're paying for it...they cant tell you different.
Well I do know that there are psychiatric evaluations involved. If you are rejected there are appeals that can be made. Thats pretty much all ya can do, seeing as there is no such thing as a ';back-alley'; sex change and, well.... the silence of the lambs approach is kinda creepy
