When did this fad begin; it just seems like overnight people have started to change their gender. Please don't flame me for being honest; I think the idea of getting a sex change is grotesque and disgusting. Who is so insecure about themselves that they have to change their bodily organs? The entire subject is related to a congenital birth defect that all true or primary transsexuals share. This is not simply some form of perversion or insecurity as you suggest at all. We live a full life of sadness and self hate because we are not congruent with our own bodies.

The media is only now beginning to see the reality and is starting to educate people about the truth and not some sexual laden porn or mind numbing preaching of hate as you think is acceptable.

My brother you are absolutely right. Trying to act straight IS like trying to change your gender or any other essential characteristic of your being. In any other situation I would tell you to say fu*k 'em but yours is a unique case. I would advise that try to avoid people who you know are looking to expose you. They're relatively easy to spot. They try to get close by asking you what you're into; you know, what kind of girls you like. But they're really just waiting to see if you sweat under pressure. Don't. Only be open and honest with people who you trust and with people who respect and value you and your life.     I recently installed a real train horn under my van. I regulated the pressure so it is just under 85 decibels at 3 feet away so there is no chance of hurting anyone's hearing at all. Of course it is much lower at 3 or 6 feet, where my victims are usually standing.

    I have been performing an experiment to see how people react to a blast of such magnitude. I have made the following generalizations:

    there is a huge daycare I pass by and I notice that little boys will cover their ears and go crying to the teacher, whereas little girls will be seemingly delighted that they were momentarily shocked and want more. I have tested this in neighborhoods where there are lots of children about and noticed that boys start liking the noise and appreciate the initial shock at about age 11 or 12 or so and when passing say a bar or restaurant with a patio men will yell or hoop or holler, like yeah that's a real horn a man's horn. On the flip side, women over 20 in their car,out jogging or at the store running errands or whatever, are seriously offended by it, like oh what a jerk, @hole, ect.. Then again off to the walmart or mall and couples over 65... The men act offended, as if, you @hole you, thats way un-called for, your a jerk,and the women act as if oh how cute or geez you got me. good one, ect...

    Of course there are exceptions, like the couple of little boys that run up to the fence and encourage me.

    What does it all mean, why do peoples attitudes change so? One year a girl loves it, the next few years it offends her, then she adores it again?Why do attitudes between genders change with age?

    Wow. I'm not married, but I could only imagine how I'd feel. How would I feel? I'd probably have just about every emotion in the book. Beside the i (which, if clicked on, will give you information on the animal) are two symbols, one looks like a circle with an arrow on it and the other looks like a symbol with a ';t'; on it. The t is for girls and the arrow is for boys. Just highlight an animal in the list and then click on the male/female symbol you wish to make the animal. You can't change the gender of an animal once you've bought them, so you will have to buy another to change it. This info is for the computer version of ZT1. I'm not sure where the buttons are in any other version, but the symbols should be the same.

    I was wondering if there's anyone out there that's either going to change gender or already did that could answer my questions. My questions are how and what is it like to go about the process of getting the surgery. read on wikipedia and it said to go to a psychiatrist to get 2 recommended notes for the surgery. What ever i'm just lost so plz help if you know.Any transmen around that could answer my questions?
    What a surgeon requires depends on the surgeon. Though most will require you've presented as male for a year, and been on HRT (hormone replacement therapy), and have a letter from your gender therapist diagnosing you with GID (Gender Identity Disorder) and recommending that you take hormones an surgery. An endocrinologist who will proscribe you testosterone will likely require the same letter, though it depends, a surgeon definitly would though.

    For myself, I don't have a gender therapist, but I got a bunch of phone numbers of ones in my area, and called them and grilled them on transsexuality. One was very helpful, an gave me the name of an endo she works with. So I now go to him for T, he doesn't require a letter or official diagnosis.

    It really depends on the surgeon or endo what they require. I know one guy who was only on T 6 months, an he was able to get top surgery. And hormones is definitely a perquisite to bottom surgery, you want as much growth in that area as possible before surgery.

    Okay,this may sound weird but I'm a 13 Year Old girl and I'm transsexual,I really wanna have that sex change surgery but I'm too young,I know I have to wait till I'm 20 years old but I can't wait I wanna change gender so bad,I can't tell my mom or she'll freak out.     umm...just wait. At 13 your hormones and emotions are all mixed up! and...people always ask when is the right time to tell parents; the simple answer is that the right time will present itself. Until it does, just chill.



    and...I'm pretty sure that a sex change operation would cost more than $3,000. I'm not sure what country you're from but here in the USA the price can be as high as $100,000. keep in mind that it's a multi-step process; hormone treatments, breast augmentation/reduction, the actual genitalia surgery, and any cosmetic facial surgery that you choose to have to complete the process.
    Go see a counselor, not because your crazy or wrong but because its a lot to deal with at 13 - hell it's a lot to deal with at any age. A counselor is just someone else you can talk to. Anyway you'll have to see one before you start your treatment - and all through.

    A synopsis of the KIND of books they are is more interesting (sorry to 'shout' ';...kind...'; but Y/A leaves no alternative).



    5.) As for genre, I'd say the Uglies series, the book Peep and perhaps a couple more are more sci-fi-ish. I think the Midnighters series is a thriller series with sci-fi overtones.

    Fantasy would be, yes, the umbrella for all the books he wrote.. the general genre.

    Sci-fi is not the ';one genre'; for Westereld ...but ';fantasy'; is.



    6.) If the assignment is for an essay, keep in mind... most essays are brief.

    Unless you were told a certain wordcount is needed... you can trim this a lot and have a more effective essay. And more fun writing it.

    The 3 Abrahamic faiths condemn cross-dressing which is the first step of becoming a transsexual (aka the Real Life Experience). So how could anyone purport to be a religious Jew, Christian or Muslim is they decide to change gender?



    Jews and Christians are agreed upon the old Testament:

    Yes they are definitely mutually exclusive but the greater sin would be to deny the existence of God.



    People sin for what ever reason, then later they might repent for it sincerely and not persist in that sin. I'm pretty sure God would forgive them. If they never repented properly, then I guess they'd go to Hell, but that doesn't give other people the right to attack them.

    Certainly those religions would condemn transsexualism (not just with cross-dressing, also with 'effeminate men'), but then again they additionally condemn so many other things that their followers can be. I've encountered Christian transsexuals, the same as I know a gay Muslim and a female vicar. Just because their religious doctrines disagree with these things, it doesn't mean there can't be people who accept the religion anyway.

    Personally I do not accept the discrimination in religion, and I wouldn't want believe in it if it wanted to condemn me for my preferences.
    They pick and choose. Everyone picks and chooses their rules. Otherwise this world would violate way too many human rights. And no one would work on sundays. But I love working on sundays, so when I was still religious, I just picked and chose whichever the rules I liked. Not many go by all of the rules. They just believe because they believe in god, like heaven and they feel immense guilt for all the little ';sins'; they did. I'm so glad I became an atheist. No more guilt and stress for all the little sins that are otherwise acceptable in any society. Even the San people wouldn't look at promiscuity as bad and sinful. It's just those ancient societies in middle east that found sex disgusting and couldn't control themselves, so they created these rules. We are all descendants of the San people and they have just one pregnancy every 3 to 4 years and they don't need such rules.     African Dwarf Frog question!?

    I have a 5 gallon tank with a filter and heater. There are 5 male guppies in the tank right now, and have all been doing great for the while they've been it. The tank still seems really open and I would love to add an african dwarf frog. Do guppies and frogs get along? We had 2 frogs a long time ago in a 1 gallon tank, first 1 then we added another. I was wondering if african dwarf frogs do better and are happier in pairs or by themselves? Also both of our pet stores sell these frogs but no frog food. We gave our last one hermit crab pellets did fine, but any suggestions? Finally we had another frog jump out of our 1 gallon tank that had a tiny opening and we never found him. My 5 gallon tank has the classic ';filter'; open area, how can I close this up so the frogs can't get out?     I think you answered your own question. Sex change operations weren't around in God's time, so there is no mention of it in the Bible. However, many Christians disapprove of it, simply because they believe that God doesn't make mistakes and that you shouldn't change how He made you. As someone who knows quite a bit about transgendered people, I think that's absolute crap....but that's my own opinion.



    P.S. I'd like to give you a quick lesson on the difference between gender and sex. Gender is what a person is mentally, so it cannot be changed. What you're talking about is people changing their sex, which is their physical sexual anatomy, because it does not match their gender.

    I have recently been reading some essays by post modern feminist academics about gender and institutions, which is extremely abstract, but in a nutshell, my understanding of it is this:



    We are born a particular sex, and the society we live in shapes us into gender roles. Those roles, and the society which shapes them are very rigid. The chances of us conforming to a standard role is very high.



    The whole thing is written in scientific language. For the scientifically inclined, it was like a second order differential equation with a set of eigenstates determined by initial constraints. That took about 8 pages in social science speak, but the copy over of scientific language into a social science framework was unmistakable. If you don't understand the above, don't worry, it's superfluous to the question unless you are a scientist.



    There were two things implicit in the text. The first was that from a position of control, within the government, or an institution - the academic feminist could alter the constraints, and therefore change gender norms to suit her own preferences. The woman behind the screen. The second was that her assumptions, motivated from a moral desire for equality, were implicitly justified.



    The model was actually quite scientific but the framing of it certainly wasn't. A scientific model uses an abstract image (physical law expressed in maths) which is them compared experimentally against observed reality. The better those abstractions describe what is observed, the more valued the theory.



    These feminist writers, having formed an abstraction seemed to then forget about the testing against reality part, but were very keen to talk about how their mechanism should be used to manipulate reality to achieve their own ends.



    Very much the same criticisms that 1970s feminists leveled at bureaucracy as an ';instrument of the Patriarchy';.



    To be fair here, my criticism is aimed at specific academic authors, and not the feminist movement in general. I would be interested especially in answers from people who have any direct involvement with the academic side of feminism.

    I am not a scientist and I understood your comment. It really could be said with few words. Edit. I agree with you. What I can't stand about Feminism is I must have the same opinion and think according to feminist movement. Where did the our rights go?
    If by ';elitist'; you mean thinking they know it all, and don't need to be reviewed in their work then from what i've seen (not very much) yes.



    It is the very nature of their work that they can get away with that.
    It'd be truly interesting to read a sociology paper which could hold its own in a contest of scientifically esoteric language against a series of Science papers published in Nature.



    To be blunt, though, my respect for sociologists has never been great. To me, this seems more like an instance the rule than being an exception.

    Most likely, but the way I would describe it is that ';feminism has become an academic standard';, because people may not actually be feminists themselves but have to teach at academic faculties that adopt feminist structures within their methods of grading students.
    Maybe feminism is like philosophy. Maybe it's something that can't be tested. Maybe it would moved to psychology if there is a bunch of testing involved. I think it's like pragmatism, I mean the gender equality.
    The key point here is that there is a distinction between real science (physics, chemistry, biology) and pseudo science (all social sciences).

    Whilst I respect the intelligence of people who study and teach humanities I think that they too often hijack the language of real science to give a spurious impression to the uneducated that their opinions are just as reliable as physical laws.


    Why would this be happening? Is this a response to a demand for a more science centred methodology for social science research, or why?



    I mean if anyone can read these works (I guess they're getting published) and come to the same conclusion as you, wouldn't making the pinhead bigger in an attempt to cram a few more angels on board be easily discovered?

It sets up the idea that ordinary people cannot be trusted to look after their own ideas, so they have to be stripped of that power. Feminism has excelled at doing this.



    But surely you should expect such a progression?



    Look at every Revolution (I do not count the American Revolution, because that was part independence movement, part aristocratic take-over and part a continuation of the old British - French wars)



    The French Revolution: due to a drop in the amount of sunlight reaching the surface of the Earth, the French agricultural sector failed year after year. The French Aristocracy decided to overthrow the King. They did so by using democratic assemblies as a form of tool and excuse and promptly became much worse than the King. The democratic assemblies then overthrew the aristocracy and - in the name of Freedom, Equality and Brotherhood, started a Reign of Terror under Maximilian Robespierre. Robespierre set up the Reign of Terror under his political party, the Jacobins and they set up a Committee for Public Safety.



    This is very similar to the Feminists use of the word ';equality'; to justify the worst, least equal treatment handed out in a very long time to an entire gender.



    In France, the King (who wasn't good but wasn't that bad either) was replaced by the aristocracy (who were bad and tending to worse) then they were replaced by the Reign of Terror (which was the worst) and then that was overthrown by Napoleon, who introduced some sort of peace by directing the destructive energies outwards.



    The Russian Revolution followed a similar pattern: the Tsar was deposed, then a new government by the incompetent and corrupt Kerensky proved worse than the Tsar, so Kerensky was overthrown and the Bolsheviks (the Communists) came to power and proved to the worst of the lot.



    So, too, with Feminism. They replaced the old order (which wasn't great but wasn't bad either) with something that got steadily worse until today where it's getting steadily worse all the time. On each occasion, the ';new Feminism'; has promised to return to it's old ';equalitarian'; roots and it has simply redefined the word ';equality'; to suit itself.

    elitism doesnt belong to one gender and, certainly, in no way can it be compared to oppression. so i am less concerned with academic feminists becoming elite as i am with them becoming like their old oppressors. i dont think academic feminists are oppressive at all. the field has grown, for sure, but there is currently a lot of academic debate on some of the older principles of feminism. for example, some now debate whether domestic violence is based on power. they now say factors like jealousy, anger and alcoholism play a role. altho, gender roles can differentiate these issues, too.



    so, are feminists becoming elitist? yes, some are. again, i dont think elitism is all that harmful.

    i don't think it has changed. It still amazes me that women are not put on the highest human pedestal in christian beliefs. If they believe what they claim to believe, the woman that God chose to birth his son should be the most important person of the faith, in my opinion.
    Christians and Jews used to treat women hundreds of years ago like Muslim countries treat their women today: limit their activities, make them cover their heads, give more power to husbands, death for adultery, etc.
    Well, how has the bible changed over the last 2000 years? It still has all of the negativity against women as it did before.



    My husband and I are atheists. He respects me for who I am. His very xian brother, on the other hand, treats his wife like property. Tells her what she can and cannot do. He has ';rules'; for her - where she can go, who she can hang out with. And she as a ';good xian'; obeys it all. I still dont understand why she does it, but she says that her husband is her ';keeper.';

    Let's not forgot the current assault of the Religious Right upon abortion rights, as well as the Southern Baptist Conference's policy forbidding women to be senior pastors, as that would put a woman above a man. Let's not forget the Catholic Church forbidding women to be priests of any position. And let's not forget the widespread homophobia of most of Christianity, which goes hand-in-hand with misogyny.
    The New Testament does not have negative attitudes towards women, as a matter of fact, Jesus elevated women to an equal status with men, far beyond anything they had ever experienced prior to that time in all of history. If women, or any persons for that matter, are treated badly it's a result of SIN, the sin that dwells in all human beings. It's not the fault of the Bible or Christianity in general.



    As far as Paul telling wives to be submissive to their husbands, that is a functional role, not a sign of inequality.

    I've told my whole family about wanting a gender change (I'm 16 and just want to see a clinic to test whether I'm a true transexual at the moment) they took it a lot better than I thought- my dad and sister didn't seem to mind at all though my mum sometimes gives off subtle hints that she disapproves a bit. The feelings always been there ever since I was young I'm just afraid of how my doctor is going to react. I've been to her so many times about depression and sleeping problems I'm worried shes just going to think I'm some hypochondriac. Shall I just go the hell for it anyway? My mum just thinks I'm on the computer all the time so I just get stupid ideas from it but I really don't think thats the case. She also makes me feel ashamed of myself by doing that :zGoing to the doctor about having gender dysphoria?
    Well consider yourself lucky young man because most families don't react that well. Just keep moving forward. Be persistent and I think your dreams will come true.

    When I was a kid, up until I was about 7 I truly believed that I was a girl, when in fact I am not. Maybe this had to do with the fact that I did everything my older sister did or not, either way , thats how it was.     It 'sounds' like you may be transgendered.

    Your sexual prefernce (girls or guys) has nothing to do with what gender you identify as.



    However, the real answer does come from you, even if it is difficult to find.



    Even if you do undergo hormone therapy you don't need to have sexual reassignment surgery...several people don't. You don't need to have any surgery. You can go on and live life as a girl and never have to be a man again.



    You can love girls to death....you can change genders and still like girls. Your gender is different from your sexuality.



    Think about your past feelings and experiences. When your dad said ';You're a boy!'; and you were granted any wish in the world, would you wish to be a girl? Is it the same now?



    If that isn't you #1 wish then maybe you don't like being a man, but you don't want to be a girl either...maybe you are just androgynous. You can be a 'girly looking man' or a 'boyish looking girl'. You don't need to be on extreme or the other.



    Maybe your place is somewhere in the middle?



    If you still can't find the answer within yourself, maybe it is a good idea to seek out a therapist or psychiatrist who can further help you understand your feelings.

    Trans people can be gay/lesbian, straight or bi, just like anyone else. So, you could be trans and a lesbian/bi. There is a good chance you are, although perhaps not. Time will tell. If you're not, these thoughts will probably go away sometime soon. If they don't go away, go see a psychologist and figure out whether you want to transition with hormones and all.
    You are who you choose to be.

    If you want to repress those feelings, and it doesn't bother you to do so, then do that.

    But if you don't feel comfortable being in men's clothes, then you shouldn't feel like you're supposed to be. Wear women's clothes; it's your right. No one can stop you.

    You don't have to have the surgery unless you feel you need it. But I'm just letting you know, it's hard to get a girlfriend when you're a wolf in sheep's clothing.

    Many of us require more time than others to figure our issues out. Have patience with yourself because self-acceptance can't be rushed. However, in your case I might suggest talking with a gender therapist. Sometimes just talking to a real live person and doing what I like to call a ';core dump'; helps bring things into focus. Don't think about surgery and what not right now, you're getting way too ahead of yourself. Surgery is the last step for some people and you're only at the beginning of your journey. A journey who's story has yet to be written.

    I think that maybe I could be transgendered. I am (mostly) heterosexual, biologically speaking, so it's not my sexual orientation but my Identity I'm confused about. Given the opportunity I'd probably change gender. But this is never going to happen, so it's not really an option. To me it's society that is wrong, not me. I feel shackeled by beeing seen as what my genes make me. I guess I'd probably feel shackeled by beeing seen as the opposite sex, either. But how can I ever hope to free myself from those shackles when they are so damn tight? Even our very language is sexistic in dividing between male and female, and I know of no other that doesn't.



    That's it. I'm aware that I don't even asked a real question, but perhaps you got something useful to say about the matter.

    I know this is easier said than done, but you just have to be yourself, and not worry quite so much about the shackles other people would put on you. We have adopted gender roles, but they have weakened over the years. Women in pants were almost unheard of 100 years ago, for instance. But if you are YOU and not always trying to fit into a prescribed role, most people today will respect you for that.

    we all feel confused about our identity and should together squash out social constraints on gender-identity and realize that childhood, genetics, and enviroment makes someone who they are, not just gender. Personally, I just wish I was taller, cause I'm too short.

    Well, looks like you have some issues. I wish you peace, and luck dealing with them. There are more people like this, I'll bet, than most people think.
    Yes, you do seem confused but so are a lot of people when it comes to gender so it's ok. You are making good points about society. Just keep being yourself and hope society will catch up someday.
    Our present society is quite judgemental and repressive regarding most issues around sex, including gender identification. You should seek counseling to help you cope with your situation and to come to terms with it. Also, do not think that gender is all or nothing. There are many transsexuals that identify as women, live as women, take hormones to look like women, and are essentially women in every way...other than the penis that they refuse to relinquish. And, they shouldn't have to relinquish it.



    Be the person that you are most blessed to be. Be as much a woman as you long to be...and be as much a man as you feel comfortable being. Just be careful. The simple minded out there are so insecure in their own identities that they can feel quite threatened when someone decides to live a real life as the person they really are. If you don't already live in an open-minded community, then you really need to consider moving to one. It is unfair that you should have to move, but it will make your life much easier and safer.
    I have experienced these feelings. I only lightly considered a sex change, but I strongly hated the fact that I was a woman. Our society says so much about gender. I don't think any of it is correct. I don't think gender has anything to do with anything. I love sex, society says that is bad, I love cars and sports, society says that is abnormal. I've found some peace recently. I've just begun to be myself regardless of what people think. It's going ok, but I have a long way to go. I am in therapy and that helps. And I have surrounded myself with people who don't treat me a certain way based on gender.



    Of course, no one can decide what is best for you. Maybe you should get a sex change. Or, if that is not an option, cross-dressing and hormon drugs can take you a ways. I wear mens clothing sometimes and it helps me to feel like I fit in depending on the situation. If you really don't think you can be the gender you are, then maybe you shouldn't have to be.     Okay, not many people know a lot about this sort of situation, so i'm just going to assume that the people who do answer, know a lot more then I do. So here's the deal in a matter-of-fact way. I have a female body, but my mind is male. I have a girlfriend. I've talked to her about my gender (and the fact that I want a sex change) before and she says that it's scary to view me as male. I don't see how this works since my mind is one already.. and that's how it's always been. But then when I suddenly bring it up, she gets scared and doubts her own love for me. She is unbelievably lesbian and doesn't find men's bodies attractive at all. So here's my question: Are we not meant for each other?



    I mean.. I love her more then anything in life; you could say she's my reason for living. She feels the exact same love for me. but won't accept a gender change. Every other problem i've ever had before (suicide attempts, cutting, self hate) she understands and helps me through, but she just can't accept a change in my body. I don't want to lose her, yet I can't stand the thought of living as a female for the rest of my life. I know that attraction is a big part of a relationship so... I don't know..     It is a big topic but it sounds like you have a decision to make - your partner is a lesbian and she wants to be with a woman; you can't continue to live as a woman and she can't become heterosexual.



    If you must go through with the surgery, then you at least will know on the front end you risk losing the woman you love.

    Honestly, if she knows that she won't be able to love you the same way after the sex change then it won't work. She is a lesbian who is in love with the female body as well as the female gender. I think at the moment it's a tad bit uncomfortable for her to understand/process. I would give her some time to come to grips with it. Undergoing a sex change is easier said then done, and it will be awhile before the actual hormone therapy/surgery is started/done.



    Talk about it some more...
    I know more about this situation than most. I have known people who are trans and some people who were partnered with people who were trans.



    I think this is a really tough situation and you have to give your girlfriend some time to grasp this. I think some lesbians have a hard time getting their heads round the concept of their partners becoming 'guys' because that makes them seem straight to the world. She might even be questioning her own sexuality?



    I don't know if your relationship can be saved, but I am sure that you can talk this through with your girlfriend and listen to her concerns too. Tell her how you are feeling. Lots of communication is key.

If you get one, make sure you get something that they can chew on because of their beaks. You don't want them to get very long because they have trouble eatting. And make sure you clip their nails. Oh, and by the way, if you get one, make sure you give him/her a lot of attention because some can be skittish if you don't tend to them properly.HELP NOW budgie birds?

    They should cost around $20 each, then there is the cage, food, and toys. The cage should have bars with spacing no wider than 1/2 an inch. They should have several sizes and textures of perches in the cage and at least 3 toys at all times.



    They should not be fed a diet of all pellets. Pellets have too much protein for their tiny bodies. With proper care, they can live 15+ years!!!

If after reading that booklet you decide you don't want to spend three or four hours with a bird every day you have only spent a couple of bucks on a book. If you fly off and buy a bird before you know what you are getting into you will spend at least $100 for a bird and outfit it with a bird, accessories and food. Then you don't like the mess and the work and you have to try to find a home for your bird. You won't get 25 cents on a dollar in return for a second hand bird and cage. They will live to be twenty years old so you have plenty of time to think this trough. You will be responsible for this guy for a long time.
    You should be able to get a budgie for under $25 at any major pet store and a suitable cage with starter toys, cuttle bone, fill and maybe even food for about $80. Budgies can be fussy about their food, so find out what they feed them at the store. Treat sticks can also help ease the transition. If you want to handle your pet, only get one and avoid putting up a mirror until it is hand trained.



    A sexually mature female parakeet has a beige colored band across the nostrils just above the beak. In males and juveniles, this band is white or brightly tinted. The zebra stripes on the head go nearly to the front in very young birds... and the birds in the major chains will probably be too young to sex accurately.
