The relationship between gender/sexuality and genre in Kerouac's On the Road?

I am a bit stuck and have been asked to prepare to talk a few minutes about how I see the relationship between gender/sexuality and genre in a book, play, film, piece of architecture. I have chosen On the Road.

I assume genre in this sense would mean autobiographical beat/road novels.

Some focus questions

How are generic conventions ?of, for example, the road movie, the romantic novel, classical architecture ?gendered and/or sexualized?

What ideas/ideals of gender 榥orms?or ideologies do they represent?

Are there feminine and masculine modes of expression?

What are the implications of such gendering?

Do the meanings of gender change in different genres?

How do representations of gender intersect with issues around 榬ace? class, and sexuality?

Some ideas, opi8nions with examples would be great! The relationship between gender/sexuality and genre in Kerouac's On the Road?
OTR has homoerotic undertones, and ( more accurately, perhaps ) the relationships between the men are primary. The heterosexual relationships are definitely secondary, and transitory. Class is another area well-explored. At least two of the people/ characters were ex-cons, as opposed to most of the others who were working class. Intellectuals were also well-represented.

Wiki has a list of people/ characters.
